Originally from Philadelphia, Charles has over 30 years of experience in architecture, twenty-five as Principal and founder of TEK Architects. Charles received his Masters Degree in Architecture from Harvard University where he was awarded a Graham Foundation Fellowship, an American Institute of Architects Scholarship and two Harvard University Scholarships. He also holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts & Architecture Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to founding TEK, Charles worked with the Grad Partnership, Design Coalition and Skidmore, Owings and Merrill on major corporate, institutional and government buildings. Charles is a member of the American Institute of Architects and The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Columbia and Harvard Universities Graduate Schools of Architecture and Planning and The Cooper-Hewitt. Publications have included “Light Construction” by Terry Riley, Architectures of Masculinity” by Joel Sanders, “Home Front: New Developments in Housing” by Lucy Bullivant, “The AIA Guide to New York” by Norval White, “Graphic Standards: Details” by Wendy Talarico, and Robert A.M. Stern’s “New York 2000” among others.
